It all began in Rockford, Illinois ...

Grandpa Ford

Grandpa Ford

On July 16 in the year 1900, William Kenneth Ford was born.  His birthplace was Williamsfield, Ohio, but shortly the family moved to Western Springs, Illinois, a small suburb on the western outskirts of Chicago.  His parents, Edith Woodward Ford and Thomas Albert Ford, were eventually to have three sons, William, Newell, and Harold Ford.

Newell and Harold each married and settled down in Western Springs, but William, after completing medical school at the University of Illinois and finishing a residency in dermatology, moved to the town of Rockford, Illinois (about 90 miles west of Chicago).

There he married Gladys M. Schrom, older daughter of Fannie B. Schrom.  Like his father before him, William Kenneth Ford produced three sons: William Frank Ford, Peter Woodworth Ford, and David Palmer Ford.  These three boys grew up in Rockford, went to college, and spread across the land, producing the three great branches of the Ford Family.
